Main Attractions in Tasik Biru

The lake is famous among locals and tourists as a recreational area in Malaysia. If you love canoeing, picnicking, and jet skiing, this is the ideal place for you. It is also regarded as a multipurpose area – due to water activities and film shooting locations in the area. Bara is a great Malaysian film that was filmed at Tasik Biru. It was a documentary by Datuk Yusuf Haslam. Families from surrounding areas come to Tasik Biru for weekend hangouts, picnics, and fishing activities.

Despite the low success rates, fishing is the favorite activity among the locals and tourists who come here. The exotic peacock bass or Cichla Ocellaris is the main target species in the region. Also, the diamond fish and giant snakehead are some of the other species that are popular in the area. The lake is quite close to Kuala Lumpur. Hence, the first two fish species receive heavy pressure from fly fishers and bait casters.

What Is The Meaning Of Tasik Biru?

Tasik Biru means “Blue Lake” in Malaysian. That is because of the blue color water in the lake. The depth of the lake itself causes it. There is an island in the middle of this lake – which makes it unique compared to any other lake in Selangor. The local folks say that the island is floating by itself. But most people think that it is just a myth. The location was developed as a water sports and recreational center to the locals as well as the tourists after the British colonial era. The area consists of 80 acres and is to be upgraded with a jogging track around the lake and recreation area.
